This was our second photo shoot with the H family. It was great to watch the boys, Jonny and Steven, interact. They got along so well – it was fun to capture their bond. It was a wonderful morning with a fantastic family and location.
The afternoon before Kieran started kindergarten, we got him and two of his buddies together at the park for an impromptu photo shoot to commemorate the occasion. All three boys were really excited to show off their backpacks, eat apples, and run around in the park. Ainsley even got into the spirit by proudly holding up the chalkboard.
This was a fun shoot. The light was great, the sky was slightly overcast, and we didn’t really have too much of a set plan — we just let the kids play together and ran after them with the camera, which usually results in the most natural photos.
Friends and fellow photographers, the Donovons, asked for a quick photo session to get a few family photos with their daughter, Penny. In just over 20 minutes, we covered several spots at Discovery Lake in San Marcos and only had one run-in with a swarm of mosquitoes. :)
Penny was one of the happiest babies we’ve ever shot — she squealed and laughed whenever I held up her animal glove. A few of our favorite photographs are below.
Baby Ethan has the sweetest, most angelic face and I can’t get over the super cute curled toes. Ethan had his own ideas about posing – he even lifted his little week-old head all the way up as he got himself out of a pose and got back to his favorite curled up position. Ethan, you are one strong boy. We enjoyed meeting you and seeing your wonderful parents again.
We had the best time on this cool, misty morning in La Jolla. Sarah and Scott were great sports: climbing out on the rocks, braving the brief rain, and feeling a “Titanic” moment. After our time at Windansea beach, we went back to their beautiful home to take a few more pictures with them and their adorable goldendoodle puppy. We’re looking forward to photographing their baby in another week or so!
